The second test match between India and Bangladesh started from Friday 27 September in Kanpur. After an easy win in Chennai, Team India entered the Kanpur Test with the intention of making a clean sweep of Bangladesh. Now the hope was that Team India would easily win this Test too, but what happened in the first day's play, leave aside the victory, it has given tension to Team India for the future as well. Due to rain and bad light on the first day of the Kanpur Test, only 35 overs could be played and there is a possibility of similar situation for the next two days of the match, which is not good news for Team India in terms of the World Test Championship final. .

The day ended in just 35 overs

The match started from Friday at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, but what was feared two-three days ago, happened. Bad weather continued to interfere from the beginning of the match. Even the start of the match was delayed by an hour due to wet ground. Then even when the first session was played, it rained again, due to which the game after lunch also started with a delay of 15 minutes. In the second session also only 9 overs were bowled, when the play was stopped due to bad light and then due to heavy rain it was decided to end the day's play. Overall, only 35 overs were played on the first day, in which Bangladesh, batting first, scored 107 runs losing 3 wickets.

Weather is not good for the next two days

Now there are 4 days of play left in the Test, in which the result can still come, but the whole trick lies here. In fact, it is expected to rain heavily in Kanpur for the next two days. According to the forecast of Accuweather, there will be heavy rain in Kanpur on the midnight of Friday-Saturday. There is also a forecast of heavy rain from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday. Overall, 80 percent rain is expected on Saturday. The problem is that relief will not be available even after this.

Rainy conditions will persist on Sunday, September 29 i.e. the third day of the test match. There is a possibility of rain that day also at the time of start of the match. In such a situation, it is certain that a large part of this match will be lost due to rain and bad weather, due to which the chances of getting the result will be less. While Bangladesh will benefit from this because it can avoid a clean sweep, Team India may have to suffer the consequences.

WTC will be affected

Actually the question is about making it to the final of the World Test Championship. At present, Team India remains at number-1 in this race. At present the team's point percentage is 71.67 but if this match is drawn due to rain then both the teams will get 4-4 points. In such a situation, the team's points will reduce to 68.18 percent. This may affect the final race. Team India needs to win at least half of its remaining matches to reach the final for the third consecutive time.

Before this series, India had 10 test matches left, in which it needed to win at least 5 matches. Of these, he has won one against Bangladesh. After this, 3 test matches are to be held against New Zealand, in which Team India is expected to make a clean sweep. After this, Team India has to play 5 Tests on Australia tour and it is not decided how many matches it will be able to win there. Therefore, it would be better for Team India to win all its 5 tests at home before the Australia tour, but the rain in Kanpur can spoil its dreams.
