Royal Challengers Bengaluru's new recruit Yash Dayal said he went through a lot emotionally after he was hit for 5 sixes in an overYash Dayal said it took him long to put it behind and focus on doing well on the field again as the 26-year-old recalled his journey from that nightmarish over to earning a Rs 5 corer contract with RCB in IPL 2024.

Yash Dayal has made a sensational start to life as a Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowler. In two outings, Yash Dayal has looked the most impressive RCB bowler. The left-arm pacer from Uttar Pradesh has picked up 2 wickets and bowled miserly spells after getting the opportunity to start for the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Against Chennai Super Kings, Yash Dayal got the big wicket of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and conceded 28 runs in 3 overs while he stepped it up against Punjab Kings on Monday with a terrific spell with the new ball. Yash got the wicket of Sam Curran and conceded just 23 runs in 4 overs.

Yash Dayal has been moving the ball both ways in the powerplay and using variations, including the slower-ball bouncers, wonderfully well. The former Gujarat Titans pacer has looked more confident than ever and it's that over from the last season that has taught him plenty of life lessons.

Speaking to his RCB teammate Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal recalled how he checked social media despite warnings from his close ones after conceding 5 sixes in a final over against Rinku Singh in a game between the Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders in Ahmedabad.

"After that match, when I returned to the dressing room, I felt very bad. I was told not to check social media. But, I did check a few comments. I spoke to my family and I was hurting, thinking what people would be thinking about me after that over. In the next two days, I fell ill. It took some time for me to recover and return and focus on playing games," Yash Dayal told IPL.

"But then, I realised that I am not the first person to experience this and I won't be the last. So I put it behind and started focusing on the process again. I thought returning to a high-pressure environment would only make me tackle the situation," he added.

'FEELS LIKE A DREAM'

Yash Dayal has made all the right noises in the new season. He picked up 9 wickets in 6 matches for Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 50-over tournament. He also was part of the India A squad that played against England Lions on the sidelines of the 5-Test series between Rohit Sharma-led India and Ben Stokes's England in February-March.

Eyebrows were raised when Yash Dayal was bought for Rs 5 corer in the IPL auction in December, but the young left-arm pacer is proving his naysayers wrong.

"I have heard and seen that RCB's fan following is huge. From my childhood, I have been following two teams, one CSK and RCB. But I never thought I would get an opportunity to play with one of the two franchises. So after coming here and seeing the atmosphere, and playing will all of you feels like a dream only," Yash said.

RCB will next face Kolkata Knight Riders in a high-octance home game in Bengaluru on Friday.

Yash Dayal is treasure: RCB's response to Murali Kartik's controversial remark is gold by Rinku Singh in IPL 2022 and that comments on social media only added to his frustration and anxiety.
