Delhi: West Indies' explosive wicketkeeper batsman Nicholas Pooran is currently in tremendous form. Even though he is away from international cricket, he is consistently performing brilliantly while playing for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Pooran is scoring a lot of runs in almost every match and now he is very close to a historic milestone.

This year, Puran has the most runs in T20 cricket and he is just one step behind the all-time record.

Pakistan's star wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan made this record by scoring 2036 runs in a year in 2021. Now Puran has scored 2032 runs in 65 matches in 2024 and is just 5 runs away from breaking Rizwan's record.

Trinbago Knight Riders' next match will be against Barbados Royals on 27 September, in which Puran will have a golden opportunity to break this record. If he scores 5 more runs in this match, he will become the batsman who has scored the most T20 runs in a calendar year.

Hales and Butler are also included in this list

At third place in this list is England's Alex Hales, who scored 1946 runs in 2022, while Jos Buttler scored 1833 runs in 2023. Now Puran has a chance to leave all these behind and create a new history in T20 cricket.
