Before the Kanpur Test, Sanjay Manjrekar has said something after which he may have to face trolling. Sanjay Manjrekar made a big allegation on BCCI that Virat-Rohit get different attention from other players and this is not good for Team India at all. According to Manjrekar, giving 'special treatment' to some star players in the Indian team according to their image is a big problem of BCCI and this has been going on for a long time.

What did he say about Virat and Rohit?

Sanjay Manjrekar has said on Cricinfo that Virat and Rohit not playing in the Duleep Trophy is not good for Indian cricket, nor is it good for both of them. Looking at the poor performance of both in the Chennai Test, Manjrekar further said that if Rohit and Virat had spent some time in red ball cricket in domestic matches, things could have been a little different.

However, he has also said that the ability of both the players cannot be doubted and they will bounce back soon. Indian team's veteran bowler Jaspreet Bumrah was also given rest after the T20 World Cup. He was also exempted from playing Duleep Trophy but Manjrekar has not said anything about him.

A direct target on BCCI

Many players of Team India took part in the Duleep Trophy. It included many big names like KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. However, two veteran batsmen of the team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, were exempted from it. Former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has taken a tough stand on this. He targeted the BCCI and accused them of treating the players differently based on their stature and reputation.

According to Manjrekar, the board should be careful about the players and take decisions according to what is good for Indian cricket. Manjrekar further said that there has been a long-standing problem in Indian cricket of giving special facilities to some players according to their status. This only harms that player.

How was the performance?

Sanjay Manjrekar has raised all the questions on BCCI after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed in Chennai Test after staying away from red ball cricket for a long time. Virat played a Test match about 9 months ago in January. He was able to score 6 runs in the first innings and 17 runs in the second innings against Bangladesh.

Rohit played the Test series against England 6 months ago. He could score only 6 runs in the first innings and 5 runs in the second innings. On the other hand, Jaspreet Bumrah also returned to Tests after the England series but he bowled brilliantly and managed to take 5 wickets.
