Shreyas Iyer, a well-known figure in Indian cricket, has made headlines once again, not for his on-field performances but for a significant real estate acquisition in Mumbai.
The middle-order batter, who is currently working towards a comeback into the Indian team after some recent challenges in Test cricket, has purchased a new property along with his mother, Rohini Iyer, in one of Mumbai's premium areas. The details were revealed in a report by Hindustan Times, which sourced the information from "property registration documents accessed by Zapkey." According to the report, the newly acquired apartment is located on the second floor of Triveni Industrial CHSL in the bustling Worli neighborhood, specifically in the Adarsh Nagar locality. The apartment measures 525 square feet and has been bought at an impressive ₹2.9 crore, equating to ₹55,238 per square foot. This transaction was officially registered on September 19, 2024, and incurred a hefty stamp duty of ₹17.40 lakh, along with registration charges amounting to ₹30,000.
A History of Real Estate Ventures This latest purchase is not Shreyas Iyer's first foray into Mumbai's real estate market. In fact, Iyer is no stranger to high-value properties. He already owns a luxurious apartment in the iconic Lodha World Towers, one of Mumbai's tallest buildings. Back in September 2020, Iyer had made headlines by buying a spacious 2,380 square foot apartment on the 48th floor of The World Towers, developed by Macrotech Developers. The cricketer had paid ₹49,817 per square foot for the property, which also included three parking spaces. In addition to his residential investments, Shreyas Iyer has also shown an interest in commercial real estate. In July 2024, he purchased a commercial property in Worli for ₹2.9 crore. According to documents accessed by Propstack, this investment placed him among a growing number of sports personalities who are diversifying their portfolios by acquiring income-generating properties in Mumbai. The total carpet area of the property purchased by Shreyas Iyer was 510 square feet, with the purchase price amounting to ₹56,863 per square foot, as revealed by the documents.
