He said this about his retirement

“I remember when I made my debut at Aberdeen. One night I got a call from head coach Pete Steindl to join as a replacement because there were a lot of injuries in the team,”

“I never thought I would grow up to be an international cricketer, so when the first call came, I thought it was a joke! Then Richie Berrington rolled his ankle the day before the game, and that was me playing. It was the best way for me to go – there was no time to think about it, I could just go out and try to enjoy it. It was a complete whirlwind.

“It’s a privilege to be part of such a great team that has helped grow the game in Scotland, to a level where going to a World Cup is the norm. To see the team now competing in these events and winning games makes me incredibly proud, because we have raised the level of expectation. Being associated with that core group of players for so many years has been a really special time in my life, and I am honoured to have been a part of it.
