India fast bowler Akash Deep has said that he will never play with the bat gifted to him by the star India batter Virat Kohli. Notably, Akash was recently gifted a bat by Kohli as he shared its photograph with his fans on social media.
The Bengal fast bowler thanked Kohli in his Instagram story and shared his prized possession. Recalling the moment, and he gifted him of own volition. The seamer said that the former India captain must've been impressed with his batting and vowed to never use it and keep it as a souvenir forever. "Virat bhaiya ne khud se bat diya tha [Virat bhaiya himself gave me the bat]. He must have observed something about my batting. I didn't ask for it; he came to me and asked, 'Bat chaiye kya tujhe?(Do you need a bat)' Who wouldn't want a bat from Virat bhaiya? He is a legend. I was very happy to hear his words and wanted that bat. He asked me what kind of bat I use while batting, and I just smiled—I didn't have words. Then he said, 'Yeh le, rakh le yeh bat(Here, take this bat).' I will never play with that bat; it is a big gift from Virat bhaiya, and I will keep it as a souvenir on the wall of my room. I even got his autograph on the bat," Akash Deep told Times of India. Meanwhile, Akash had a great outing in the first Test against Bangladesh as he picked 2/19 in five overs in the first innings.  Akash Deep's magnificent form in recent times Earlier, he also performed exceptionally for India A in the Duleep Trophy picking nine wickets in the first round of the tournament against India B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Akash registered figures of 9/116 across two innings and played a brilliant innings of 43 (42) in the second innings. He had a marvellous debut in international cricket replacing Jasprit Bumrah during the fourth Test against England in Ranchi. The 27-year-old picked 3/83 in the first innings dismissing Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope in a magnificent new ball spell. The speedster will be eager to continue his marvellous form in the second Test against Bangladesh set to begin from 27th September in Kanpur.
