In the world of chess, Sunday 22 September 2024 has been forever recorded in golden pages for India. In the history of chess, India has won the gold medal of the Olympiad for the first time. In the Chess Olympiad 2024 going on in Hungary, India became the champion in the open category and women's category simultaneously for the first time. The Indian men's team of 5 players including D Gukesh, R Pragnanandha, Arjun Erigaisi won the gold medal in the open category. After this, the women's team of Tania Sachdev, R Vaishali, Divya Deshmukh also created history by winning the gold medal. India not only won the gold in both the categories for the first time, but also created a stir by winning both the golds simultaneously.
