India A has won the Duleep Trophy title. India A, captained by Mayank Agarwal, defeated India C in the last match by 132 runs in a thrilling manner. Sai Sudarshan's (111) brilliant century in the last session of the last day could not save India C from defeat. India A needed 4 wickets in the last 9 overs to win, in which Sai Sudarshan was also standing firm, then fast bowler Prasidh Krishna took 3 wickets including Sudarshan and led the team to victory. The failure of batsmen like captain Rituraj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Rajat Patidar proved costly for India C and the title slipped out of its hands. India C needed only a draw and the team was also close to it but Prasidh dashed its hopes.

Even Rituraj and Ishaan could not save

On the last day of the match on Sunday, 22 September, India A declared their second innings at 286 for the loss of 8 wickets. Riyan Parag scored the highest 73 runs from their side, while Shashwat Rawat also played an innings of 53 runs. India A had got a lead of 63 runs in the first innings. In this way, they gave a target of 351 runs to India C for G. India C had about two and a half sessions to achieve this target but the team never looked in a position to win, rather their attempt to somehow take the match towards a draw also failed.

After losing the first wicket, captain Gaikwad (44) and Sai Sudarshan made a strong partnership for the second wicket. Both stayed on the wicket and batted for 22 overs and made a partnership of 77 runs. The team looked in a better position and being at the top of the points table, it would have got the title if this match was drawn. On the other hand, India A needed a win at all costs but both the batsmen were proving to be a problem for them. Then pacer Aaqib Khan made Gaikwad his victim for the second time in this match. After this, batsmen like Patidar (7), Ishan Kishan (17), Abhishek Porel (0), Pulkit Narang (6) also returned to the pavilion one after the other.

Sudarshan's century was overshadowed by Prasiddha's speed

Sai Sudarshan stood alone from the other end and for some time he also got the support of Manav Suthar. During this time Sudarshan also scored a strong century. India C had to bowl only 9 overs to draw the match and it had 4 wickets left including Sudarshan. It was here that spinner Shams Mulani broke the partnership by dismissing Suthar. Then in the very next over, pacer Prasidh Krishna took the wicket of Baba Indrajit. Top order batsman Indrajit did not come to bat initially due to hamstring injury but when there was no option left, he showed bravery and took charge of the crease so that he could get the draw but his game ended in 2 balls. In his next two overs, Prasidh dismissed Sudarshan and then Anshul Kamboj and made the team champion by giving them victory 3 overs earlier.
