Aakash Chopra wants Rohit Sharma to give more overs to Akash Deep on the fourth day of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. He mentioned that the right-arm fast bowler might be playing his last contest of the series as he will not be a part of the playing group in the second and final Test in Kanpur.

Bangladesh, who were given a 515-run target, reached 158/4 on Day 3. Akash Deep, who took two wickets in the first innings, hasn’t been able to dismiss any batter in the six overs he has bowled in the second innings.

Aakash further said that R Ashwin will complete his five-wicket haul and will get the Player of the Match award on Day 4 of the game.

“There is a lot of time left in the first Test. India will wrap up the proceedings without any fuss. Ashwin will get a five-wicket haul,” Chopra said.

“He will also get the Player of the Match award. I want to see Akash Deep bowling more overs. He will not play in Kanpur. If Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj play, Akash will sit out. Kuldeep Yadav will play,” he added.

Chopra pointed out that the Bengal pacer will be left out unless Bumrah wants to take rest.

“This is the last chance for Akash unless Jasprit Bumrah decides to take rest. We have no information available with us. Ravindra Jadeja should also pick a couple of wickets.”

Ashwin, who went wicketless in the first innings, has taken three wickets in the second essay so far. The all-rounder scored 113 runs in India’s first innings.
