Delhi: Indian team's star batsman Shubman Gill has scored a brilliant century against Bangladesh in the Chennai Test, for which he faced 160 balls. This is his 5th century in Test cricket and 12th century of his entire career.

This is also his third century in Test cricket this year. With this brilliant innings, Gill has achieved another milestone. This is the first time that the right-handed batsman has scored 3 centuries in a calendar year in Test cricket.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma is at the top of the list among Indian batsmen, who has scored a total of 9 centuries in WTC. At the same time, Rishabh Pant is also at par with Virat Kohli in this matter with 4 centuries.

Gill made his Test debut for Team India against Australia in December 2020. He scored 45 runs in the first innings of his debut match and 35 runs in the second innings. Gill, who performed brilliantly in ODIs, struggled continuously in Tests. He had to wait almost 2 years for his first Test century, which he scored against Bangladesh in December 2022.

After this, he scored his second century against Australia in March 2023. Then he scored 2 more centuries during the England Test series in February-March 2024 and now he has completed his 5th century.

However, Gill, who has an average of 58 in ODIs, has failed to score consistently big in Test cricket. His batting average in 46 innings of 25 Test matches is just 35. Shubman has so far scored 5 centuries in Tests, 6 centuries in ODIs and 1 century in T20.

In the test match being played in Chennai, Gill scored 119* runs in 176 balls with the help of 10 fours and 4 sixes and remained unbeaten till the end.
