Team India's star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant's comeback in Test cricket is proving to be strong. Pant, who was badly injured in a road accident more than a year and a half ago, made a comeback in the Chennai Test against Bangladesh and started showing his old style with his bat. Pant, who played a small but important role in getting Team India out of trouble in the first innings, has now done the same in the second innings. With this, Pant has scored a half-century in Test cricket after a full 637 days. Pant scored his fifty in Team India's second innings on the third day of the match. His previous half-century also came against Bangladesh just before the accident.

On the third day of this first Test match being played at Chepauk Stadium, Pant batted in a controlled and composed manner and scored his half-century. Rishabh Pant had batted strongly in the first innings but missed the half-century. Then he scored 39 runs in just 52 balls. This time Pant stepped on the crease on the second day after 3 wickets fell for just 67 runs and started batting fast as soon as he came. By the end of the day's play, he returned after scoring 12 runs.

On the third day, Saturday 21 September, Pant took this innings forward and this time he took his time and added runs to his account. Pant reached his half-century after about one and a half hours of play in the first session. He completed the 12th half-century of his Test career in 88 balls by taking 1 run. With this, he got a chance to wave his bat in the air after a long gap of 637 days in Test cricket. Pant had earlier scored a half-century in the first innings of the Mirpur Test on 23 December 2022 against Bangladesh. Then Pant played a brilliant innings of 93 runs.
