Following an early struggle, where the ball was moving, India lost quick wickets. Big names like Rohit Sharma , Virat Kohli , and Shubman Gill, got out cheaply. India were reeling at 144/6 but from thereon, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja managed the proceedings and amassed a huge partnership of 199 runs. Ashwin registered his 6th Test century in the process, whereas Jadeja held out after scoring 86 runs. India put up a fair 1st innings score of 376 runs. In reply, Bangladesh lost early wickets and were ushered out of the match by the Indian bowlers. Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with a 4-for and besides him, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Jadeja struck a couple of wickets apiece. Bangladesh bundled out at 149 and hence Team India has garnered a monumental lead of 227 runs. Much like the first innings, Sharma again failed to get going. He fell after scoring just 5 runs. Jaiswal followed him and departed after scoring 10 runs. A shaky start brought Virat Kohli to the crease, who along with Shubman Gill, established a 39-run stand. Just before the end of the play, Kohli got out at 17. His dismissal was controversial as replays clearly showcased that there was a faint spike from his bat before the ball brushed the pad. Kohli did not take the review and hence had to make the long way back. At the end of day 2, Team India has amassed 81/3, the lead has reached 308, rendering a solid grip on the match. Shubman Gill, who is unbeaten on 33 and Rishabh Pant , who is batting at 12, will continue on Day 3. India's motive on Day 3 would be to put as many runs on the board and set up a big target to take Bangladesh completely out of the game.
