After a bad start in the first innings of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh, Team India made a strong comeback. Ravichandran Ashwin scored a brilliant century, while Ravindra Jadeja also played a strong innings. With the help of the strong partnership of these two, the Indian team scored 376 runs in the first innings. After this, it was the turn of the bowlers and Jasprit Bumrah gave the first success as soon as he came, but the second wicket slipped out of hand due to Team India captain Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who did not accept the DRS demand of star pacer Mohammad Siraj. Due to this, the Bangladeshi batsman got a lifeline.

On the second day of the Chennai Test, Team India's first innings ended at 376 runs, after which the Bangladeshi team came out to bat for the first time. For Team India, superstar fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah took the wicket of opener Shadman Islam in the first over itself. This wicket gave Team India a great start, as captain Rohit Sharma would have expected. Team India was going to get the second wicket soon but first the umpire gave a wrong decision and then captain Rohit also did not take DRS.

Pant refused, Rohit did not take DRS

Mohammad Siraj was bowling in the fourth over and he continuously troubled Bangladeshi batsman Zakir Hasan. Then Siraj's fifth ball hit Zakir's pad and there was a strong appeal for LBW. The umpire rejected it. Siraj then requested Rohit to take DRS but he refused to do so. The reason for this was also wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who explained to the captain and Siraj that the ball had pitched outside the leg stump and was going outside. Rohit did not take DRS and later the replay showed that Zakir Hasan was clearly out.

Akash Deep saved a big loss

Zakir Hasan got a new lease of life due to this mistake of Rohit-Pant. Siraj also lost the chance of taking the wicket, for which he was bowling brilliantly continuously. This mistake could have caused a big loss to Team India, but it was Akash Deep who saved the team from this mistake of the captain and keeper. In the ninth over, Akash Deep bowled Zakir on his first ball and thus saved Team India from a big loss. Zakir was out after scoring just 3 runs. After this, Akash also took the wicket of new batsman Mominul Haque on the very next ball and thus by lunch, Bangladesh had lost 3 wickets for just 26 runs.
