In the first match of the 5-match ODI series, Australia defeated England by 7 wickets with the help of Travis Head's century. Marnus Labuschagne also gave a brilliant all-round performance. Marnus Labuschagne scored a half-century of 57 runs in 61 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Head and Labuschagne added 148(107)* runs for the fourth wicket.

Steve Smith scored 32 runs in 28 balls with the help of 3 sixes. Cameron Green scored 32 runs in 32 balls with the help of 5 sixes. Head and Smith shared a 76 (72) run partnership for the second wicket. Head and Green added 73 (64) runs for the third wicket. Matthew Potts, Jacob Bethell and Liam Livingstone got one wicket each from England.
