Former player Parthiv Patel supported Shubman Gill and said that it was unfortunate for him that he could not perform well in the first innings. He had performed brilliantly in the Test series played at home against England this year, but he was out without scoring any runs in the first innings against Bangladesh.

After his dismissal, Parthiv Patel said, “I think Shubman Gill was unlucky. When a batsman gets out after playing a shot on the leg side, he feels bad. His plan was to bat ahead of the crease. He wanted to avoid the swing given by the bowler, but it is normal to get out like this in cricket.

There are two most unlucky ways of getting out in cricket: getting run out at the non-striker's end and getting caught by the wicketkeeper on the leg side. Something similar has happened with Shubman Gill.

The former player further said, “You should try to leave the ball. Whenever the ball is going towards the leg side in Test cricket, the batsman prefers to ignore it. But Gill failed to do so and due to this he had to lose his wicket.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal played an innings of 56 runs for the Indian team, while Rishabh Pant contributed 39 runs. Although Shubman Gill failed to score big in the first innings, he will try to make a great comeback in the second innings.
