Dhoni and CSK started their new season on the right note as they defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Chepauk in the opening match of IPL 2024. The defending champions put in an all-round performance with both bat and ball as they won the match by 6 wickets. RCB had posted 174 runs in their 20 overs after Faf du Plessis had given them a great start. However, CSK would pull things back through Musatfizur Rahman, who picked up 4 wickets on the day. Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik's partnership helped RCB get to the total in the end. Cameos from Rachin ravindra, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja ensured that the chase never slipped away from CSK and they won with 8 balls to spare. While Dhoni didn't come out to bat, he thrilled fans and pundits with his work behind the stumps and rolled back the years with an incredible under-arm run out. CSK will next face Gujarat Titans on March 26 at the Chepauk.
