Babar Azam finally showed form with the bat. He scored a hundred for the Stallions in the ongoing One-Day Champions Cup in Pakistan. His regular below-par scores for the Men in Green had put his place under the scanner and the veteran finally returned to form in the domestic tournament organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board. This will boost his confidence for the upcoming home Test series against England.

Playing against the Dolphins, Babar hit his 30th List A hundred, scoring 104 runs off 100 balls, with the help of 7 fours and 3 sixes. Despite his hundred, the Stallions managed just 271/7 in 50 overs.

In the opening game of the event, he amassed 76 runs against the Lions. In the second contest, he managed 45 runs.

Meanwhile, there are reports that PCB will sack him from the white-ball captaincy after Pakistan’s group stage from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies. He was brought back as a captain before the global event. Babar replaced Shaheen Afridi, who was removed after just one T20I series against New Zealand.

Babar had left the post across formats following the team’s failure to qualify for the playoffs in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
