Even without star captain Rinku Singh, Meerut Mavericks have won the Uttar Pradesh T20 League title. In the final of the second season of the league, Meerut defeated Kanpur Superstars by 5 wickets and won the title of this tournament for the first time. In the final played on Saturday in Lucknow, Kanpur batted first and scored 190 runs in 20 overs, which Meerut achieved by losing 6 wickets in the 20th over. Swastik Chikara, who batted brilliantly throughout the season, played another strong innings, while captain Madhav Kaushik played a brilliant innings and hit a six to give the team victory. Kanpur had to face defeat in the final last year as well.

Explosive batting by Shaurya and Sameer

Kanpur batted first in the final played at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The opening pair of Shaurya Singh and Shoaib Siddiqui made an explosive start and took the team past 70 runs in just 7 overs. This partnership was broken with the wicket of Shaurya at a score of 77 in the eighth over, who played a fiery innings of 56 runs in just 23 balls, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes. Shoaib was out after scoring 35 runs in 31 balls.

After this, captain Sameer Rizvi took charge of the innings and laid the foundation for the team to reach a big score by scoring 57 runs (3 fours, 3 sixes) in 36 balls. Apart from him, Ankur Malik scored 26 runs. Yash Garg took the maximum of 3 wickets for Meerut but he also proved to be very expensive during this time. He spent 47 runs in his 4 overs. At the same time, leg spinner Zeeshan Ansari, who took the maximum 24 wickets in the tournament, was once again seen bowling brilliantly, in which he gave only 20 runs in 4 overs and took the wicket of Shaurya.

Swastika's counter attack

In response, Meerut had a very bad start and opener Akshay Dubey was out on the second ball itself. He was bowled by left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, who plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. At the same time, Uwais Ahmed was also out after scoring just 11 runs, but Swastik Chikara's explosive style continued during this time. Chikara, who hit the most 42 sixes in the entire tournament, showed the same style again and took the team past 100 runs in the 10th over itself. During this, he scored his fourth half-century. Here, Mukesh Kumar gave a big shock by taking his wicket in the 11th over. Chikara scored 62 runs in just 31 balls, which included 5 sixes and 3 fours.

Captain Kaushik won the match by hitting a six

However, captain Madhav Kaushik was standing firm from the other end and along with Divyansh Rajput, he was taking the team towards the target. There was a good partnership between the two but then Mohsin dismissed Divyansh on the first ball of the 17th over. However, captain Madhav stood firm and quickly completed his half-century. In the end, Hrithik Vats along with him hit some big shots and took the team to the title. Captain Kaushik led the team to victory by hitting a six on the fifth ball of the 20th over. He remained unbeaten by scoring 69 runs in just 43 balls and returned only after making the team win.
