Fans and former players call MS Dhoni Captain Cool. He doesn’t get angry and stays calm on the field. However, his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Subramaniam Badrinath revealed that he is not the same in the dressing room.

Speaking to InsideSport, Badrinath talked about a match between CSK and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in 2008.

Albie Morkel’s four wickets restricted RCB to 126/8. However, Chennai couldn’t complete the chase and managed only 111/8.

“He lost his cool but not on the field. We were chasing 110 odd against RCB but lost the match,” he said. The former player revealed that the incident happened after his dismissal to Anil Kumble for 1 run off 3 deliveries. Dhoni kicked the batter bottle as he entered the dressing room. Badrinath further said that players stayed away from the CSK captain.

“I was standing in the dressing room, and he was coming inside. MS kicked the water bottle in anger, and we all were shocked. We couldn’t make eye contact with him, and the players stayed away. Dhoni didn’t say anything, and there was no team meeting,” he added.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has not confirmed his return to CSK for IPL 2025, as the veteran is waiting for the new retention rules. He will decide his future once the BCCI releases new guidelines.
