Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is keen to carry the team's belief from their recent victory over Pakistan in their forthcoming games.
Bangladesh recently registered a historic away series win over Pakistan beating them by 2-0. Coming into the series, the Bangla Tigers had never registered a single victory over Pakistan in Test cricket. However, they managed to put their past behind them and stunned Pakistan who're searching for the first home win since 2021. It's just the third overseas Test series win for the Asian team in their 24-year-long Test history. Reflecting on their historic triumph, Shanto revealed that it was their belief which helped them conquer their demons. He also mentioned the victory will serve as an inspiration to win away from home. "One word: belief. It feels great when you are winning. It is important to enjoy these moments. I think such a moment has never come in Bangladesh team's history. Cricketers look for references. Now we have one. We know that we have the ability to win abroad," Shanto told ESPNCricinfo.  . The Bangladesh skipper is confident that the team will have the belief to win when they take the field next. We will surely have the belief that we can win: Shanto "The next time we play, I don't know about the result, but we will surely have the belief that we can win. I said the same thing in the press conference on the first day [when asked about Bangladesh's dismal record in Pakistan] that records are meant to be broken. It was from my belief after seeing how hard the players worked," he added. Bangladesh have never beaten India in a Test match having lost 11 out of the 13 matches played between the two teams with two matches ending in a draw. in December 2022 in Dhaka. Chasing a target of 145 in the fourth innings, India were left reeling at 74/7 when Ravichandran Ashwin (42*) and Shreyas Iyer (29*) came together to stitch a match-winning 71-run partnership to help India win by four wickets and seal the series by 2-0. Hence, they will derive confidence from their past performances and aim to register a historic win over India as well.
