The right-handed batter, dropped from the ODIs, continues his Midas touch with the ball in hand, picking two wickets in the first innings, and later crushed Australia's chances of winning the series with his brilliant knock of 87 off 47 balls. England won the second T20I by three wickets.
Besides, fellow all-rounder Jacob Bethell, playing only his second international game, slammed a stunning 44 off just 24 balls, taking down one of Australia's white-ball greats, Adam Zampa, for 20 runs off one over. Captain Phil Salt powered the run chase with 39 off 23 upfront.
However, the silver lining for Australia in the second innings was Matthew Short's maiden five-wicket haul.
Australia batted first, with Jake Fraser-McGurk included in the XI. Following a blistering start, with Travis Head going bonkers again, Australia looked like breaching the 200-run-mark, but two wickets inside the first ten overs dented their plans.
McGurk was on song playing at number three as he smashed his maiden T20I fifty, scoring 50 off 31 balls, including hitting four fours and two sixes.
Josh Inglis, who scored a hundred against Scotland in the previous series, kept the run-rate intact with a beautiful-looking 42 off 26 balls.
Though all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Tim David departed early, late striking from Cameron Green and Aaron Hardie saw Australia post 193 for six.
England return to winning ways
After going down chasing in the first T20I, England made amends to their approach in this game by taking the attack from the word go.
Their blistering start was enough for them to stay on the right track, and later, with impactful outings from two all-rounders, England sealed the deal.
