Afghanistan vs New Zealand Test: The fifth and final day of the only Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand in Greater Noida was also cancelled due to rain. This is the first time in 91 years of 730 Tests played in Asia that a Test has been cancelled due to rain.

The match could not start on the first two days due to wet ground and poor arrangements. After this, it was decided to cancel the match due to rain for three consecutive days and not a single ball was played in the entire match. This was Afghanistan's third Test against another team in India. Earlier in 2019, Afghanistan has played Tests against Ireland and West Indies in Dehradun and Lucknow.

Let us tell you that the Afghanistan Cricket Board has confirmed that the BCCI had given three options to host this match, but they chose Greater Noida due to its proximity to both Delhi and Kabul.

The Afghanistan team will now travel to the UAE for the ODI series against South Africa, while the New Zealand team will tour Sri Lanka for a two-Test series and then play a three-Test series against India in October.

Out of the 2548 Test matches played in the 147-year history of Test cricket, there have been only seven matches in which not even a single ball was played. This happened for the first time in the Ashes series match between Australia and England in 1890. Then in the Ashes series in 1938 and 1970. After this, it happened between 1989 and 1998 and it did not happen in the 21st century.
