India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad retired hurt after facing just two deliveries in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India B in Anantapur.

The opening batter hit a four on Mukesh Kumar’s first delivery but was hit on the second, forcing him to leave the field.

There is information available on the actual cause of injury that led to Gaikwad’s departure from the field.

He came out for the toss, but the coin result went in favor of the rivals led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, who told them to bat first.

Ruturaj was replaced by Rajat Patidar. It will be interesting to see if the right-handed batter returns to bat in the first innings.

He scored 5 and 46 in India C’s four-wicket victory over India D in the opening contest of the tournament. Gaikwad was not considered for the first Test against Bangladesh.
