The injury issues are not ending soon for the Afghanistan cricket team as Ibrahim Zadran has now been ruled out of the one-off Test match against New Zealand. It is a big blow for Afghanistan as Ibrahim has been one of their best batters in the past few years.
Earlier, the team had already lost legspinner Rashid Khan and fast bowler Naveed Zadran due to injuries. Rashid was ruled out due to a back injury, while youngster Naveed Zadran was out due to a side strain injury.

Ibrahim Zadran is suffering an ankle sprain in his left leg due to which he has been ruled out of the one-off Test against New Zealand and the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, which will be played in the UAE. ACB shared the news through social media.

Ibrahim Zadran is a prolific run-scorer for Afghanistan and has been consistent in all the formats. He is one of the most technically sound batters for Afghanistan.
Ibrahim had a good T20 World Cup 2024 where he scored 231 runs in 8 matches at an average of 28.87 and a strike rate of 107.44. He emerged as the fifth-highest run-scorer of the tournament and played a perfect foil to Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who was the highest run-getter of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Both the openers were in scintillating form throughout the tournament and helped his team create history by reaching the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals.
Ibrahim Zadran has an excellent record in all the formats of the game. He has been a regular in his team for years now and has played 7 Tests for his country where he has scored 541 runs at an average of 38.64. He also has 1 hundred and 4 fifties to his name.
But his favorite format is the ODI format where he has scored 1440 runs in 33 matches at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 80.44. Zadran has struck 5 hundreds and 7 fifties in the format. The 22-year-old has also played 44 T20Is and scored 1105 runs at an average of 29.07 and a strike rate of 107.28.
Meanwhile, the first day of the one-off Test match against New Zealand at Greater Noida was called off due to the wet conditions on the ground. The toss hasn't happened so far and the remaining four days will have 98 overs each.
