Team India will return to international cricket with the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19. The players were given a long break, and some of them are currently playing in the Duleep Trophy 2024. The practice camp before the two matches will be organised in Chennai. The city will host the opening game on September 19.

Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee will make a few changes in the squad for the important series. According to Cricbuzz, Rajat Patidar could be dropped, while Rishabh Pant is likely to return.

Rajat, who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL, made his Test debut against England this year. However, he scored just 63 runs from three matches. The management gave him a long run, but he failed to cement his place. His below-par display could cost him a spot in the team.

The report further states that Rishabh Pant will return for his first Test after more than a year. He met a fatal car accident in December 2022 and remained out of action. The southpaw was called back to white-ball formats after recovering from injuries. He is representing India B in the Duleep Trophy, a four-day tournament.

Dhruv Jurel, who was magnificent as a wicketkeeper and batter against England in Pant’s absence, will retain his place but as a back-up keeper.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will also play against Bangladesh. However, the selectors could rest Jasprit Bumrah.
