Riyan Parag is known for displaying his emotions on the field. He doesn’t shy away from showing his anger or happiness, and this is what happened on Day 3 of the Duleep Trophy 2024 match between India A and India B at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Batting on 27, Parag looked set for a big score.

He added three runs to his overnight score, and his resistance ended in the 39th over of the innings.

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal’s delivery was on the leg side, and Parag couldn’t see it correctly but still went for the flick. He got an edge, and the catch was taken by India A wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

Parag was angry with himself as he couldn’t believe what he had done. He stood there for a few seconds before hitting the bat on his pad and walking back to the dressing room.

Initially, it seemed that Parag was not satisfied with the decision, but if that was the case, he had the option of taking DRS. Laxman Sivarimakrishnan, who was in the commentary box, was left confused by Parag’s reaction. Anjum Chopra, who was the other commentator, explained to Laxman that Riyan was angry with himself and not because of the umpire’s call.

Replays showed that Parag’s bat had indeed touched the ball, and the 79-run partnership between Riyan Parag and KL Rahul was broken.

Earlier, India A opener Mayank Agarwal was dismissed in a similar fashion. He was caught on the leg side by Pant on Navdeep Saini’s delivery on Day 2.

Musheer Khan (182) and Navdeep Saini (56) took India B to 321 from 94/7.
