The 7th match of the Caribbean Premier League 2024 was played between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Guyana won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Guyana's batsmen rained sixes. They hit a total of 23 sixes in the entire innings. Out of these, 11 sixes were hit by Shimron Hetmyer alone. Not only this, on the basis of this, he took his team to a huge score of 266. Along with this, he got his name registered in the record book, yet he was heartbroken. The reason for this is that he missed the century.

Made a record, missed century by 9 runs

Shimron Hetmyer batted in a very fierce style in the match against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. He was hitting long sixes. Hetmyer also played an explosive innings of 91 runs in 39 balls at a strike rate of 233, but he remained just 9 runs away from the century. In the 19th over, he had hit 4 sixes to Odin Smith and again tried to send a ball outside the boundary on the last ball but got caught. During this innings, Hetmyer hit 11 sixes but did not hit a single four. With this, he has become the joint third batsman to hit the most sixes in an innings in the history of CPL. Before him, 6 batsmen have done this feat. Andre Russell has hit the most sixes (13) in an innings of CPL. Here too, he missed the record by only 3 sixes.

The team also made a record

With the help of Hetmyer's stormy innings, his team was able to score a mountainous score of 266 runs in 20 overs. With this score, the Guyana team also made the record of making the second highest score in the history of CPL. The record of scoring the most runs in CPL is in the name of Trinbago Knight Riders. They scored 267 runs in the 2019 season.

On the other hand, apart from Hetmyer, opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 67 runs in 37 balls at a strike rate of 186 and Keemo Paul scored 38 runs in 14 balls at a strike rate of 271. In this innings, Gurbaz hit 4 fours and 6 sixes, while Keemo Paul hit 4 fours and 3 sixes.
