West Indies explosive batsman Nicholas Pooran, playing for Trinibago Knight Riders, rocked the Caribbean Premier League 2024 match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Warner Park in St Kitts on Sunday (September 1) with his stormy batting.

Coming in to bat at number three, Puran batted at a strike rate of 225.58 and scored 97 runs in 43 balls, hitting 7 fours and 9 sixes. Puran may have missed out on scoring a century but he made many special records in this innings.

Most sixes in a year in T20 cricket

Puran has become the player to hit the most sixes in a year in T20 cricket. He has hit 139 sixes in 57 innings in 2024. He surpassed Chris Gayle, who hit 135 sixes in this format in 2015.

Fourth player to hit most sixes in T20 cricket

With this innings, Pooran's total sixes in T20 cricket reached 551 and he surpassed Colin Munro (548 sixes) to reach the fourth spot in the list of players who have hit the most sixes in T20 cricket history. Now only Chris Gayle (1056), Kieron Pollard (877) and Andre Russell (704) are ahead of him in this list.

It is worth noting that in this match, Knight Riders defeated St. Kitts by 44 runs. After being invited to bat first, Knight Riders scored a huge score of 250 runs for the loss of 4 wickets on the basis of brilliant innings of Pooran and Keesee Carty (73 not out).

In response, the St Kitts team could only score 206 runs after losing 8 wickets. Michael Lewis scored 56 runs, while Evin Lewis and Tristan Stubbs scored 39-39 runs.
