Will these 2 special rules be removed from IPL 2025? Everyone is waiting for BCCI's big decision

The Indian Premier League 2025 season will be quite different. The mega auction to be held at the end of this year will change the image of every team. The captains of many teams will also change and some completely new faces will also be seen. All this is certain. But not only the exchange of players will be a part of the new season, but some rules can also be a part of this change. At present, there are 2 such rules, which the BCCI is considering to maintain in the next season. One of these rules is the impact player, which is being discussed the most. At the same time, the second rule is the one that was brought to help the bowlers. This is the rule of two bouncers in an over.

BCCI had introduced both these rules in IPL in the last season itself. These rules are not a part of international cricket but BCCI had taken this decision to make its T20 competition exciting and interesting. Before introducing these rules in IPL, BCCI had implemented these rules in the domestic T20 tournament Sair Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, where it was decided to include them in IPL only after the success. However, out of these, the impact player rule was discussed the most and many players and coaches expressed their displeasure over it. However, the rule of two bouncers in an over was not discussed much during the entire tournament.

Review before Mushtaq Ali Trophy

According to the Cricbuzz report, the BCCI is currently discussing whether both these rules should be implemented in the new season of the Mushtaq Ali Trophy or not. The BCCI has not yet shared the playing conditions of this tournament with the state cricket associations. The reason for this is being told to be the discussion going on on both these rules. Now if the board removes both these rules from the Mushtaq Ali Trophy or removes any one rule, then it is possible that those rules will not be seen even in IPL 2025. Similarly, if the BCCI decides to retain them, then perhaps they can be seen in the next season as well.

Questions raised on impact player, bouncer did not help

There has been a constant discussion about the impact player and it has been seen as an obstacle to the development of all-rounder players. Legendary players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and famous captains like Ricky Ponting have also raised their voice against it. On the other hand, the rule of two bouncers in an over was supported by everyone and it was being said to be helpful for the bowlers in IPL. However, its effect was not seen much in the entire season and due to the impact player rule, the bowlers still appeared ineffective, the result of which was seen in the form of big scores and explosive batting.
