Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh hit out at the Indian captains and coaches for the preparations of rank-turners to finish Tests in less than three days, which dents the confidence of the batters.

The games in India have not lasted for five days in the past few years. The hosts and the visitors are finding it hard to bat and score runs freely. Even the star India batters have struggled, with the likes of Virat Kohli failing to get going when the spinners are introduced.

Although India has won 17 consecutive Test series at home, it has also had its drawbacks. The pitches were a bit better in the five-match Test series against England, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring more than 700 runs.

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Sing blamed the pitches for the problem. He took an indirect dig at the coaches, captains, and team management.

“We have been making pitches that turn a lot. We want to win in less than three days. I feel if we start making normal tracks, the results would still come, but it would take time. We have dented the confidence of our batters, and they are also struggling,” Harbhajan Singh told Sports Tak.

Bhajji said that India should trust the bowlers to give results on normal pitches. “We can still rectify the mistake. The pacers and spinners we have will win us the games on Day 5, if not on Day 3. If you play on good pitches, the batters will score runs. I don’t think our batters have forgotten to play spin, but the issue is with the conditions, which have made scoring impossible for the willow holders,” he added.

India would take on Bangladesh in the two-match Test series from September 19.
