Thanks to his top-notch athleticism, the catch propelled the Indian team closer to the coveted title. Tabraiz Shamsi, who was part of the South African team in the final, has found himself in hot water with a tongue-in-a-cheek remark that has not gone down well with the Indian fans.
Suryakumar ran almost 80 meters to orchestrate one of the brilliant catches under pressure as there was a hairline gap between his foot and the boundary line.
After several replays, the Third Umpire decided the grab to be legitimate. However, many fans on social media replicated the incident with their versions, and one of those parody videos shared by Shamsi seemed to take a jibe at the iconic moment.
"If they used this method to check the catch in the World Cup final maybe it would have been given not out," wrote Shamsi on his X account.
