Hockey Team Announced for Asian Champions Trophy 2024: After dominating the Paris Olympics 2024, the Indian hockey team is now ready for the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy starting in China.
Hockey India has announced the 18-member team for the Asian Champions Trophy to be held in Hulunbur, China from 8 to 17 September.The current captain of the team, Harmanpreet Singh will be the captain of the team while Vivek Sagar Prasad has been made the vice-captain.
India will clash with these countries
Let us tell you that 7 Asian countries will participate in this tournament, in which India will compete with top hockey playing countries Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan and host China for the title.
After the retirement of PR Sreejesh, Krishna Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera will replace PR Sreejesh as goalkeepers in the team, while Germanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Sanjay and Sumit will play in defense.Raj Kumar Paul, Neelkant Sharma, Manpreet Singh and Mohammad Raheel will form the midfield. The young forward line comprising of Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Arijit Singh Hundal, Uttam Singh and debutant Gurjot Singh will be responsible for defending the opposition goal.
Ten bronze medalists from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are part of this squad.
Five players including Hardik Singh, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Upadhyay, Shamsher Singh and Gurjant Singh have been rested for this tournament.India's first match against China
The Indian team will begin their campaign for the tournament with their first match against China on September 8, followed by a match against Japan on September 9. After a day's rest, they will play against Malaysia on September 11 and Korea on September 12. After a day's break, India will play against Pakistan on September 14 while the semi-finals and final will be held on September 16 and 17 respectively.
