Umran Malik was confident of playing in the Duleep Trophy 2024 but the speedster hasn’t recovered from his illness. The BCCI has decided to release him from the squad. Umran recently recovered from dengue and is working hard at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The 24-year-old shared a clip from his training session.
Malik mentioned that he is feeling fitter and is looking forward to returning to the field.

Sunrisers Hyderabad gave Umran Malik just one game in the Indian Premier League 2024. He played against Mumbai Indians and bowled just one over, conceding 15 runs.
Gaurav Yadav was announced as the replacement for Umran Malik in Team C
Gaurav Yadav, who plays for Puducherry, has replaced Umran Malik in Team C for the Duleep Trophy 2024.
The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team will play their opening match against Team D on September 5. Suryakumar Yadav, Rajat Patidar, and Sai Sudharan are associated with Team C.
Umran Malik had recently shared about his fitness and comeback plans.
“I am feeling better and am focused on the Duleep Trophy. I will do good in the domestic season,” he had told ANI.
He has played 10 one-day internationals and eight T20Is for the Men in Blue, taking 24 wickets. Umran was dropped from the squad after the three-match ODI series against the West Indies in 2023.
