Women T20 World Cup 2024: The Indian team has been announced for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup. The BCCI announced the team on Tuesday.

This ninth edition of the tournament will be played in Dubai and Sharjah from 3 to 20 October. India has been placed in Group A along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Indian team will start its campaign against New Zealand on 4 October. Along with this, the big match will be played between India and Pakistan on 6 October.

This team has a good mix of young and experienced players. The selectors have once again expressed confidence in the opening pair of Shefali Verma and Mandhana. While the responsibility of the middle order will be on captain Harmanpreet, Jemima, Deepti and Richa. The responsibility of finishing the match will be on Pooja and Shreyanka. Shreyanka has been included in the team but her fitness will be tested before the tournament.

There is still a lot of time left in the tournament so Shreyanka is expected to be fit. This powerful spin all-rounder has the ability to turn any match on its day.

The responsibility of spin will be on the shoulders of experienced Deepti, Radha and Asha. Spinners may dominate in UAE. The Indian women's team last played a T20 series against South Africa in May. Three players of that team are not in this team. These include Uma Chhetri, Shabnam Shakeel and Amanjot Kaur.

Uma is in the travelling reserve, while Shabnam and Amanjot are not included.

A total of 10 teams will participate in the Women's T20 World Cup. They have been divided into two groups. Group A includes Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. While Group B includes South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Scotland. Before the tournament, 10 practice matches will be played from 28 September to 1 October.

Each team will play four group matches in the tournament, in which the top two teams from each group will reach the semi-finals on October 17 and 18. After this, the final will be held in Dubai on October 20. Reserve day has also been kept for the semi-finals and final. If India reaches the semi-finals, it will play Semi-Final-1. A total of 23 matches will be played in Dubai and Sharjah.
