The 17th season of the Indian Premier League is commencing from March 22, on Friday. The first match of the IPL 2024 will see defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) collide with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

However, the cash-rich league comes with its share of compromises this time, as India's general elections overlap the IPL schedule. Hence, the IPL governing committee has decided to hold the latest edition in two phases. The BCCI has unveiled the schedule for the first phase as the same for the second is still awaited. The first phase of the league will see 21 matches being played across 12 different cities, keeping the home-away format intact. The phase begins on March 22 and will conclude on April 7.
