After 25 years, Bangladesh has once again registered a historic victory over Pakistan. Bangladesh, which defeated Pakistan for the first time in an ODI match in the 1999 World Cup, created history by winning a Test match against this team for the first time after 25 years, that too on its own ground. In the first Test match played in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh won by 10 wickets by thrashing Pakistan on the basis of its strong batting and fast bowling followed by deadly spin bowling. In this way, after the disappointment in 13 Test matches, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan for the first time in the 14th Test.

Pakistan was humiliated by the spinners

On the fifth day of the test match, Pakistan came out with the intention of scoring a big score by ending Bangladesh's lead of 117 runs, but collapsed for 146 runs in just 2 sessions. The spin bowling which the Pakistani team ignored and came into the match with only fast bowlers, proved fatal for them. For Bangladesh, the spin duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraz wreaked havoc and took 7 out of the 9 wickets that fell on the last day. Bangladesh got a target of just 30 runs, which its openers achieved easily.

With this, Pakistan has faced defeat in a Test match on its own soil for the fifth time in the last two and a half years. This series started with the Australian team's tour of Pakistan in March-April 2022 and since then till the Rawalpindi Test, Pakistan has played a total of 9 Test matches at home, in which it has not won a single match. In this, Pakistan lost 5 matches while 4 matches were drawn. Now the next Test of this series is also to be played in Rawalpindi, which will start from August 30.

The fast bowlers' bet backfired

Earlier, Pakistan had decided to field 4 main fast bowlers instead of spinner Abrar Ahmed in this match, which was surprising for everyone. The Pakistani team was hoping that the Rawalpindi pitch would help the fast bowlers but due to the rain a day before, the match could not start on time and even when it did, the fast bowlers got help for only one and a half hours. Unfortunately, the Pakistani team was batting first and Bangladesh soon took 4 of its wickets. However, on the basis of excellent centuries from Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, Pakistan declared the innings at a score of 448 runs.

Bangladesh batsmen showed their strength

However, this decision was also questionable because the pitch had become easy for batting and Pakistan did not have a main spinner. Its effect was again seen when Bangladesh started batting. Pakistani fast bowlers did get their wickets but they had to work hard for each wicket. Then when Mushfiqur Rahim settled down, he defeated the entire Pakistani bowling. Rahim scored a brilliant century and missed a double century by just 9 runs. Apart from him, Shadman Islam scored 93 and Mehdi Hasan Miraz scored 77 runs to take the team to 565 runs and gain a lead of 117 runs.
