First Sri Lankan to do so

Kamindu is the fourth Asian player to score a century while batting at number 7 or below in a Test match on England soil. Earlier, only Indian players Sandeep Patil (1982), Rishabh Pant (2018) and Ravindra Jadeja (2022) had achieved this feat.

Kapil Dev- Adam Gilchrist match

Kamindu has become the third player in the world to score three or more centuries while batting at number 7 or below in Tests on foreign soil. Mendis had earlier scored two Test centuries on the Bangladesh tour. Before him, only great players like Adam Gilchrist (7 centuries) and Kapil Dev (3 centuries) had achieved this feat.

It is worth noting that in this match, England defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
