Delhi : Former England captain and famous cricket commentator Michael Vaughan has recently criticized the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over the schedule of The Hundred 2024. The success of the IPL has set a standard for franchise cricket, and its influence has inspired other cricket boards to launch their own leagues. The ECB introduced The Hundred a few years ago, which was a new and attractive format for cricket. However, despite initial success, The Hundred has struggled to attract viewers this year.
Vaughan cited the clash of The Hundred 2024 schedule with the Paris Olympics 2024 as a major reason. He alleged that the ECB did not properly balance the organization of The Hundred with this important Olympic event, which negatively affected the interest of spectators and fans.
Vaughan advised the ECB to reconsider their scheduling strategy and make tough decisions for better scheduling in the future. He believes this will help The Hundred be presented in a better way and retain the attention of the audience, especially given the freshness of this new format.
Michael Vaughan told The Telegraph Cricket. “I will be honest about this year's Hundred. I think the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have messed up. They put it during the Olympics which is the biggest mistake. I think the schedule of this year's Hundred was bad. I don't think there should be bilateral ODI series now.”
