England's white-ball team is in a state of turmoil as the T20I and ODI captain Jos Buttler is not in good terms with former England cricketer Andre Flintoff.
According to a report published by Telegraph Buttler and Flittoff have not "gelled" during the T20 World Cup in June. While Buttler was the captain of the England squad, Flittoff served as the assistant coach to former white-bacll coach Matthew Mott. England failed to defend its T20 World Cup crown that it won in 2022 as it lost its semifinal match against eventual winners India. Mott stepped down as the team's coach after England's exit from the World Cup. The report says that Flittoff has been working with England's men's national team on a short-term consultancy basis and doesn't have a full-time contract. And with trouble brewing between Buttler and Flittoff, the latter's role with England's white-ball squad remains uncertain. England are currently play three-match Test series against Sri Lankan under stand-in captain Ollie Pope. After the series, England are due to play three T20Is and five ODIs against Australia at home. As per Telegraph, before the series against Australia, Flittoff could be moved out of from his current role thus giving stand-in head coach Marcus Trescothick more leeway to pick his own men as part of his coaching staff. Away from the national team, Flittoff also took up the role of the head coach of Northern Superchargers in Hundred. The Hundred is a 100-ball cricket tournament involving teams in major cities across England and Wales run by the England and Wales Cricket Board. The report states that there is little chance for Flintoff to become the full-time head coach of England's white-ball team however with Flittoff has made his ambitions clear by picking up the coaching role in the Hundred.
