Delhi : Pakistan captain Shan Masood insisted that his team will continue to play entertaining cricket while also ensuring that they get the right results in Test cricket. Addressing the press in Rawalpindi ahead of the two-Test series against Bangladesh, Masood said that Pakistan is looking forward to making it to the final of the World Test Championship 2023-25.

Shan Masood took over the captaincy of the Test team last year and led Pakistan in Australia. Pat Cummins' team defeated Pakistan 3-0. However, Shan Masood and Pakistan were praised for the kind of cricket they played. Shan Masood said, “Look, I think your fans and media write good things about the team. So our focus is to play cricket that everyone likes to watch. This is ultimately a result-oriented business. So you have to keep the result in your mind.”

Captain Masood stressed on giving the right results in home Tests. Pakistan will play seven Test matches in its busy home season in 2024-25. After two Tests against Bangladesh, Pakistan will host England in October and then host West Indies in January 2025.

He said, we have to look at our position in the World Test Championship again. Yes, earlier it was at sixth and seventh place. And we would definitely like to play the final this time. So if you want to play in the final, we have to win our home Test matches. If we have to win, we have to take 20 wickets in a row. And obviously, our batsmen have to score enough and give the bowlers time to take 20 wickets.

Masood said, “I think it's about playing good and exciting cricket. Look, we all want Test cricket to be fun, when we play Test cricket, we want to be excited about it and play with the same enthusiasm. Our challenge is to get the right results and at the same time play cricket that is exciting for everyone.”
