Team India: A series of 1 Test and 3 ODI matches will be played between Team India and Afghanistan (IND VS AFG) in the month of June 2026. This will be the first time when Team India and Afghanistan will play an ODI series against each other. According to media reports, the selection committee can announce a single 15-member team squad for the only Test and ODI series against Afghanistan.
After which it is believed that the selection committee will give Rohit Sharma a chance to captain the Team India squad, while 6 dangerous all-rounders can also get a chance to join the team squad.
The current captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma, has recently announced his retirement from T20 International cricket. After which it is believed that Rohit Sharma would now like to represent Team India in the World Cup to be held in 2027 as well as the WTC Final. If this happens, then Rohit Sharma can take the responsibility of captaining Team India in the Afghanistan series to be held in 2026.

The selection committee may give Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Harshit Rana, Akshar Patel, Washington Sundar and Riyan Parag a chance as all-rounders in the team squad for the only Test and ODI series against Afghanistan. The team squad looks very strong with the inclusion of these 6 players as all-rounders in the Afghanistan series.
