Umran Malik became a renowned name when he bowled exceptionally well for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022. He was given a chance to represent India in white-ball formats. However, Umran couldn’t handle the pressure and was soon dropped from the national team.

Malik hasn’t been able to prove himself in the last two years and was given just one game by SRH in the previous season of the tournament. The speedster recently revealed that he is not playing in the ongoing Buchi Babu tournament due to dengue.

“I would have loved to play in the tournament but I am still recovering from Dengue,” Umran was quoted by The Indian Express as saying.

Umran said that less game time in domestic cricket is behind his poor form.

“I was prepared for the domestic season but weather didn’t help. Things didn’t go my way in the Indian Premier League. I became a better bowler after working hard in the nets. After the IPL, I injured my hamstring. And now I am down with dengue,” he added.

“I am bowling with a new ball and trying to swing it as this can make a big difference. I want to learn a few things, especially how to execute plans. The personal goals are not important and I will have to bowl according to need of the team and my teammates,” he concluded.
