Sri Lanka ban Niroshan Dickwella for failing anti-doping test conducted during LPL 2024

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has once again banned wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella, this time for failing an anti-doping Test which was conducted during the Lanka Premier League 2024. The tenure of the suspension hasn't been revealed by the Sri Lankan board.
  The SLC announced the decision with immediate effect on Friday, with the alleged incident taking place during the recently concluded LPL where he led Galle Marvels to the finals. He scored 184 runs in 10 matches at an average of 18.40 and a strike rate of 153.33 in the tournament. He was dismissed for 5 in the final which was won by Jaffna Kings. "The suspension is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice. The test, which was conducted by the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, is part of SLC's ongoing commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport," SLC's statement read. "This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines, is aimed at ensuring that cricket remains free from the influence of prohibited substances." The left-hander has also been previously summoned by the SLC for his poor disciplinary record. He was banned alongside Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka for breaching the COVID-19 protocol during Sri Lanka's 2021 tour of England. He faced a one year ban after being sent back home midway through the tournament. He was found on the streets of Durham (England) during the limited overs series, which was a bio-bubble breach The 31-year-old last played for Sri Lanka in March last year. Overall, the 31-year-old has represented Sri Lanka in 54 Tests (2757 runs at an average of 30.97), 55 ODI's (1604 at 31.45) and 28 T20Is (480 runs).
