You must have seen the film Dangal. This film is inspired by the Phogat sisters and their guru Mahavir Phogat. By watching it, one can imagine how Mahavir Phogat brought a revolution in a small village in Haryana by training his daughters and nieces in wrestling. All of them later brought glory to India in the wrestling world. The decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) on the Vinesh case has badly broken even such a guru. After the dismissal of Vinesh's petition, her uncle and guru Mahavir Phogat has expressed his pain. He said that in this time of grief, he is remembering the days of Vinesh's struggle.
Mahavir Phogat has expressed his grief through the Indian Express. Despite Vinesh Phogat not getting a medal in the Paris Olympics, he called his niece a champion. He also mentioned her struggle-filled wrestling journey. Mahavir Phogat has said that even though everyone is sad about not getting a medal, what Vinesh has done in the field of wrestling will always be remembered.
Mahavir Phogat also told that on his return to India, he will be given a grand welcome on August 17. Vinesh's uncle also saluted her fighting spirit and revealed that this spirit has been inside her since childhood.
Let us tell you that Mahavir Phogat has trained his daughters Geeta, Babita, Ritu and Sangeeta along with nieces Vinesh and Priyanka in wrestling.Mahavir Phogat tells that when Vinesh's parents brought her to him for wrestling, they asked him to treat her like his daughter. As soon as Vinesh held his finger, he could tell about her strength. After this, Mahavir Phogat started training her from the age of 6.
However, when Vinesh was 9 years old, Mahavir's brother Rampal died.
After this, Vinesh lost her father. Since then, he raised Vinesh like a daughter. He says that there was a 'fire' inside her since childhood. She used to learn wrestling moves very quickly. Be it summer, rain or winter, Vinesh used to wake up at 4 am and come to the arena and would be the last to go home.Recalling the old days, Vinesh has revealed that she had so much passion that even her father's death could not stop her. Within 9 days of her father's death, she came to the arena to practice.
After this, she was saddened after being out due to injury after a great performance in the Rio Olympics in 2016, but she made a comeback in the Tokyo Olympics. Even after a poor performance there, she did not give up. Vinesh had a passion to win an Olympic medal, on the basis of which she first made it to the Paris Olympics and then defeated World No. 1 Yui Susaki. However, she had to face an unfortunate situation in the final.
