In the 29th match of The Hundred, Northern Superchargers defeated London Spirit by 21 runs. Many star players were in focus in this match but batsmen like Harry Brook and Nicholas Pooran did not bat while Shimron Hetmyer and Andre Russell, playing for London Spirit, proved to be flops in this match. Both these Caribbean batsmen were sent to the pavilion by Adil Rashid.
The London team had high hopes from Andre Russell but he was out after scoring just 3 runs in 9 balls. World's number 1 T-20 bowler Adil Rashid bowled such a brilliant googly to Russell that he had no answer. Russell tried to play an aerial shot on this ball of Rashid but he was badly deceived and the ball hit the stumps. You can see the video of his wicket below.
This brilliant leg spinner took three wickets for just 16 runs in 20 balls against London Spirit and was also selected as the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling. Talking about this match, batting first, the London Spirit team could score only 111 runs in the stipulated 100 balls by losing 8 wickets. Ravi Bopara scored the highest 31 runs for the team. Apart from him, Ray Jennings also contributed 30 runs. Apart from Rashid, Reece Topley and Matthew Potts took 2-2 wickets for Superchargers.
When the Superchargers team came out to chase the target of 112 runs, there was a rain interruption due to which the Duckworth Lewis rule had to be used for the result. The Superchargers scored 64 runs in 44 balls at the loss of 1 wicket and were declared the winners of the match by 21 runs.
