West Indies vs South Africa 1st Test: The first test match played between West Indies and South Africa at Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad ended in a draw. Chasing a target of 298 runs on the fifth and final day, West Indies scored 201 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the second innings. Keshav Maharaj was chosen as the Player of the Match for taking 8 wickets in the match.

In the second innings, after captain Craig Brathwaite and Michael Lewis were dismissed cheaply, Alick Athanase batted brilliantly and scored a brilliant innings of 92 runs in 116 balls. Apart from this, Jason Holder scored an unbeaten 31 runs and Keecy Carty scored 31 runs and Kavem Hodge scored 29 runs.
For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj took 4 wickets and Kagiso Rabada took 1 wicket in the second innings.

Earlier, South Africa declared their second innings at 173 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. In which Tristan Stubbs played a stormy innings of 68 runs not out in 50 balls. Tony De Georgi scored 45 runs and Aiden Markram scored 38 runs.


For West Indies, Jommel Warrican took 2 wickets and Kemar Roach took 1 wicket in the second innings.

It is worth noting that after winning the toss and batting first, South Africa scored 357 runs on the basis of half centuries of captain Temba Bavuma (86) and Tony de Giorgi (78). In response to which the West Indies team was all out for 233 runs and South Africa got a huge lead of 124 runs.

The second and final Test match between West Indies and South Africa will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana from August 15.
