Keshav Maharaj broke 12 year old record

The record for the longest spell in Test cricket since 2010 was in the name of Pakistan's Abdur Rehman, who bowled 37 overs against England in 2012. But, Keshav Maharaj has now broken that 12-year-old record by bowling 40 consecutive overs in the first Test played against West Indies in Port of Spain.

Neither WI could score 298 runs, nor SA could take 10 wickets

South Africa declared their second innings at 173 for 3. In this way, their total score became 297 runs including the lead of 124 runs in the first innings. South Africa tried their best to restrict West Indies to 298 runs in the second innings as quickly as possible. In this effort, Keshav Maharaj took 4 wickets for 88 runs in 26.2 overs in the second innings as well. But even after this, West Indies could only lose 5 wickets and the match ended in a draw.

First test draw after 28 consecutive matches

This is the first Test match drawn after 28 consecutive Test matches since July last year. This means that all the 28 Test matches played before this had a result. However, bowler Keshav Maharaj, who took 8 wickets in the match and bowled the longest spell in Test cricket in the last one and a half decade, was chosen as the Player of the Match for this inconclusive match.
