ISLAMABAD (AP) — Bangladesh will have three extra days of training in Lahore for its upcoming test series against Pakistan, the PCB said Saturday.

Political turmoil in Bangladesh had disrupted the national cricket team’s preparations for the tour of Pakistan. The two-test series — part of the ICC’s World Test Championship — will begin in Rawalpindi on Aug. 21. Karachi will host the second test from Aug. 30.

Bangladesh was scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on Aug. 17, but the Pakistan Cricket Board said the visitors will now reach Lahore on Tuesday and train at Gaddafi Stadium from Wednesday to Friday.

The team will then move to Islamabad on Saturday and train at the Pindi Cricket Stadium for three days ahead of the first test.

The PCB said it had extended an invitation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board to send its team ahead of schedule to “ensure they have adequate and fair training opportunities” ahead of the test series.

“Sports is not only about winning and losing, it’s also about comradery,” PCB chief operating officer Salman Naseer said. “I remain confident that the extra training sessions in Lahore will allow the players to showcase their best skills and talent on the global stage.”

BCB chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury thanked the PCB.

“This will certainly help the players to acclimatize to the conditions and prepare better,” he said.
