DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Sri Lanka spinner Praveen Jayawickrama was charged with three counts of breaching International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption code.

The world governing body said in a statement Thursday the 25-year-old Jayawickrama has 14 days from Aug. 6 to respond to the charges.

Jayawickrama failed to report to the anti-corruption unit details of an approach he received to carry out fixing in the 2021 Lanka Premier League and in future international matches, the ICC said.

It said the left-arm spinner was also found to have deleted messages to the approach for conducting corrupt practices.

Jayawickrama made his international debut in a test match against Bangladesh in 2021 and has picked up 25 wickets in five test matches. He played his last test against Bangladesh in 2022. He also played five one-day internationals and five T20s, and made his last international appearance during the T20 series against Australia in Sri Lanka in 2022.

He was part of the Jaffna Kings team which won the LPL in 2021, while he represented Dambulla Sixers in the LPL this season.
